HOW DO I SECURE MY BOOKING?

To book me please enquire via the contact form on my website or send me an email lucypaynemakeup@gmail.com. I will then send you a booking confirmation and invoice for a retainer to secure your booking.

This will secure my availability for the agreed date and time. Retainer payments will be deducted from the final amount due.

Once the retainer has been paid you can then book in your trial.

CAN I BOOK IN A TRIAL WITHOUT PAYING THE RETAINER?

I always ask for a retainer first to hold your wedding date in my diary before booking in your trial. Only when this has been paid your booking is confirmed.

Enquiries where the retainer hasn't been paid are not confirmed and my availability can not be guaranteed.

Therefore if i receive another enquiry for your date and you haven't secured your booking with a retainer then the date will be given away.

DO I NEED TO BOOK IN A TRIAL/WHY SHOULD I BOOK A TRIAL?

Trials can booked in as far as advance as you would like. However I do recommend booking your trial in 3-6 months before your wedding day.

Chosen products are documented and photos are taken of your finished look.

Makeup trials are to not only ensure that you don't have any skin reactions/sensitivities to the products used (this is a rare occurrence, however it is the clients responsibility to make me aware of any skin reaction that occurred after the trial so that I can avoid using the product(s) that caused it.), but to also work out the perfect makeup look for your wedding day.

HOW LONG DOES THE TRIAL TAKE & WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO HAPPEN AT THE TRIAL?

The trial will last approximately 1.5 hours - 2 hours. I always aim to stay with you during your trial until you are happy with your look however I do have a maximum time limit of 2.5 hours for makeup trials. If you wish to try more looks and are likely to need more than the allotted time a second trial can be booked.

This is the perfect time to chat about options, test product performance, swatch colours and a time where you find out which makeup style suits you best.

WHEN AND WHERE DO TRIALS TAKE PLACE?

Trials take place Monday-Thursday at the Lucy Payne Makeup studio in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

This is because Friday-Sunday are exclusively for weddings and event makeup bookings. Evenings are available too for trials however availability is limited. I suggest saving around 1.5 hours - 2hours for the bridal trial therefore it may be best to book a day off for your trial especially if your whole bridal party are planning on having a trial on the same day as you.

I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE A TRIAL CAN I STILL BOOK YOU?

Yes this is not a problem at all. Some brides do not wish to have a trial and trust me to do their makeup on the day. Several brides whom have booked me have chosen to not have a trial.

If this is the case I like to ensure that I allow myself plenty of time to make sure that you are happy with everything and that you have the perfect look for your wedding day

However I do suggest having a trial because on the day there isn't always enough time  to chat about options, swatch colours etc.

Having a trial enables you to relax and enjoy the process on your wedding day.

WOULD AN ASSISTANT BE REQUIRED FOR MY BOOKING?

An assistant will be required if I think that the booking is not possible for just myself to do.

On some occasions Venues will only allow you in at a certain time which depending on your bridal party size may mean an assistant will be required to ensure that everyone's makeup is done in time.

Another situation in which an assistant may be needed if the start time is amended and you wish to start the make up later but you will still need to be finished at the same time.

You will be informed during the booking process if I think that an assistant will be required and any additional charges this may incur.

WHAT INFORMATION DO YOU NEED FROM CLIENTS WHEN BOOKING?

Including the following information below in your enquiry will enable me to process your enquiry quicker.

  • Your name (or the name of the client if you are booking in behalf of someone else).

  • Date that you require.

  • The time that you will need to be ready for on the day (I suggest this being an hour before you need to leave).

  • Name and Address of the venue where you require me to work from.

  • How many people require my services

  • Anything that I need to be aware of such as any sensitivities/allergies or any images of styles you would like to go for.

WHAT METHOD'S OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

Retainer payments can be paid via bank transfer or cash. Bookings are only secured once the retainer has cleared.

For the wedding day payment I will send you an invoice 2 weeks before the wedding day and payment must be made at least a week before the wedding day via bank transfer. If paying with cash payment can be made on the day or in advance.

HOW LONG DOES THE BRIDAL MAKEUP TAKE ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Bridal makeup will take approximately 1 hour on the wedding day, for slightly heavier looks I may need 1.5 hours. I will be able to work out how long I will need after the trial.

Other wedding party makeups (bridesmaids, mother of the bride, mother of the groom) will take approximately 45 - 50 mins per person.

I recommend having your makeup done after your hair and bride's tend to want their hair and makeup finished an hour before leaving for the ceremony in order to allow enough time to get dressed, to have photographs or any other last minute things that needs to be done.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I'VE HAD MY TRIAL BUT DO NOT WISH TO BOOK FOR THE WEDDING DAY?

If you do not wish to go ahead with the booking this needs to be cancelled via email at lucypaynemakeup@gmail.com.

You have up until 7 days after your trial date to decide whether you would like to confirm me for your wedding day.

A refund of the £50 retainer is given if you do not wish to continue with the booking. The trial fee is non refundable.

WHAT BRANDS DO YOU USE?

CAN YOU USE MY FAVOURITE PRODUCT?

My kit is mainly built up of MAC products which I know and trust, combined with high quality additions such as NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, Tarte, Laura Mercier, Becca, Bobbie Brown etc.

I also have many Vegan friendly brands in my kit, if you would like me to use these please do ask and I will pick out my products accordingly.

Yes this is not a problem at all if there is a particular product or foundation which you would rather me use please do bring it along and I will happy to apply it for you.

ARE INDIVIDUAL/STRIP LASHES INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE BOOKING?

Individual lashes and strip lashes are included in the price of my makeup services they are a complimentary extra therefore there is no price reduction if you choose to decline the application of lashes for any service.

Individual/strip lashes are a great option to achieve anything from a  super natural lash to a full dramatic lash for your wedding day.

I advise trying out individual/strip lashes at your trial as they make a huge difference to the overall look of your makeup.

DO YOU SELL GIFT VOUCHERS?

Yes gift vouchers are available for all of my services and can be brought in my Shop or at my studio.

Please note vouchers brought through my website are E-vouchers which will be sent over to your email address. If you need any help purchasing these please drop me an email at lucypaynemakeup@gmail.com and I will be happy to help you!

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE ILL/UNABLE TO MAKE MY DAY?

This is an extremely unlikely situation to happen. However if this was to happen I know a wide range of talented makeup artist's in the wedding industry and will do my best to find you a replacement for your wedding date.

SHOULD I GET SEMI PERMANENT LASHES FOR MY WEDDING DAY?

Semi-permanent lashes are a good option if you are going on your honeymoon straight after your wedding and are wanting natural full lashes.

The same look can be achieved with individual/strip lashes if you don't want to get semi-permanent ashes.

However if you are planning on getting semi-permanent lashes for your wedding day and have never had them before I would strongly advise having a trial run with them before your wedding day to ensure you feel comfortable with them on and don't experience any sensitivities or allergies towards them.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION/REFUNDS POLICY?

If the client cancels the booking within 30 days there will be no cancellations fee. However the retainer paid remains non-refundable.

If a cancellation is made any less than 30 days prior to the event then the client will have to pay 50% of the agreed fee.

Retainers are non-refundable in any circumstance.

Cancellations are only valid if they are received via email at lucypaynemakeup@gmail.com

DO YOU CHARGE TRAVEL COSTS?

Yes I do, this entirely depends on your booking. Please take a look a look at the Terms and Conditions section for more information on this.

Please feel free to contact me for a detailed quote as to how much travel costs would be for your wedding day.
